I've been storing a bedding set (comforter, shams, pillows, bedskirt, the whole 9 yards) that we received a while agone as a gift until we were able to buy a new bed. I am one of those people who MUST wash clothing, bedding, towels, etc. before wearing/using them. I pulled all of the bedding out of the handbag tonight to throw it in the washer & realized that the tag on everything (including the shams) says "Dry Clean". It was purchased equally a gift over a year ago, and then returning/exchanging it is out of the question (plus it's no longer in stock in the shop it was purchased from). I don't think we can really afford to dry clean everything.. I tin can't imagine how much it must cost to have a queen-size comforter dry cleaned. So tin I throw things in gentle cycle w/ woolite & pray for the best, or do you think I'll totally ruin all of it earlier I even get information technology on our bed?

What is the fibre content?
Unremarkably unless information technology says "Dry out Clean Only", you can safely wash things.

@MaggieGirl: I launder all kinds of stuff that says Dry out Clean but, including my hymeneals gown just recently 🙂 Just try to use a triple loader at a laundry mat so the cloth and stuffing is free to move around. You have a improve take chances of the stuffing not bunching if y'all dont cram everything into a regular size washer.
The only thing you lot tin NOT launder is silk or wool.

Does the linen say what it'due south made of? I find you can wash most stuff if you use gentle detergent, absurd h2o (I add a wee bit of hot water) and a gentle / delicate cycle.
I figure that people even so washed thier stuff earlier dry out cleaning was invented 🙂

Information technology just says "Dry out Make clean" only doesn't say "Simply". I accidentally threw the bed skirt in with a fix of unrelated sheets before I read the tag. I only pulled information technology out of the washing machine and it seems to have held up fine (despite also having the "dry clean" tag). I'one thousand planning on hanging it to dry bc I'm agape of putting it in the dryer. Equally for the comforter itself the tag says "Face: 50% Polyester 50% Cotton fiber, Dorsum: 80% Polyester twenty% Cotton, Make full: 100% Polyester".

I never dry out clean anything (including silk, cashmere etc.) and don't have any problems. Information technology seems counter-intuitive to me that you would wash something to get it make clean, but by dry cleaning information technology y'all betrayal yourself to tons of not very good chemicals, thus I auto wash everything.
Information technology makes no sense that it would suggest dry cleaning something that'southward made out of polyester and cotton! Does information technology have any intricate detailing or beading on it?If so, make sure you plough information technology within out.
I would wash on cold on a gentler bicycle and hang to dry out. And so you can always throw it in the dryer for five minutes-ish after it's dry to take away any "crunchiness."

Polyester and cotton fiber tin exist safely washed in a machine. The but thing I don't wash in a machine is wool because it always stretches out.

@MaggieGirl: I have a shirt that says dry make clean. I wash it all the fourth dimension, I just don't put it in the dryer. I guess it depends on the fabric.

I have washed practically everything in the washer. You name it, I've done it. Lol! I am just a chip careful of some things than others. I always use common cold-water anyway so that'south one affair you tin consider for fragile stuff. Plus employ a fragile cycle and delicate detergent. Don't put as well much stuff in information technology together. I suspect the comforter will be Likewise BIG for the abode machine. Just do information technology in the laundromat. So on and so forth… It will exist fine!
